The exhibits provide company capitalization and retained earnings balances that inform balance-sheet strength and capital structure (subordinated debt, preferred instruments, retained earnings, total common equity). IFRS 17 adoption language may affect comparability of insurance-related results. Investors should review the exhibits for detailed financial statements and any impacts on regulatory capital or earnings presentation

The Bank of Nova Scotia's Form 6-K is a wrapper with two material exhibits (99.1 and 99.2) containing financial-results information, including a consolidated capitalization table dated April 30, 2026. The filing references accounting basis and IFRS 17 adoption (retrospective restatement to November 1, 2022). Exhibits appear to provide balance/capitalization detail rather than an earnings narrative or EPS figure in the primary wrapper

Score60

Score Rationale

neutral

Filing contains material exhibits (99.1, 99.2) with a consolidated capitalization table as of April 30, 2026 and IFRS adoption notes; this is analyst-reviewable financial-result information but not a full earnings press release, supporting a feed-level score.

Bullish

  • Consolidated capitalization table shows substantial retained earnings (59,876) and total common equity (77,222) as of April 30, 2026, indicating capital base on the balance sheet (source: Exhibit 99.1/99.2).

Bearish

  • The capitalization table shows outstanding subordinated debentures (5,766) and material preferred shares/other equity instruments (9,939), which represent fixed obligations or non-common capital claims that affect available common equity (source: Exhibit 99.1/99.2).
  • The following table sets forth the consolidated capitalization of The Bank of Nova Scotia (the “Bank”) as at April 30, 2026:
  • As at April 30, 2026 (in millions of Canadian dollars) — Subordinated debentures 5,766
  • Common shares 22,002; Retained earnings 59,876; Accumulated other comprehensive income (4,604); Total common equity 77,222; Preferred shares and other equity instruments 9,939
  • accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as issued by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) for the last six months period ended April 30, 2026 ...
  • Date: May 27, 2026 | By: /s/ Gerhardt Samwell | Name: Gerhardt Samwell | Title: Senior Vice-President & Chief Accountant
  1. Open Exhibits 99.1 and 99.2 for the detailed consolidated financial statements and notes (income statement, EPS, regulatory capital metrics) not shown in the wrapper.
  2. Assess IFRS 17 retrospective restatement impacts (adoption note references November 1, 2022) for comparability of insurance-related items.
  3. Monitor any accompanying earnings press release, MD&A, or investor presentation that summarizes period results and key ratios (CET1, leverage, ROE).

For purposes of computing these ratios:

|
• |
|
earnings represent income from continuing operations plus income taxes and fixed charges (excluding capitalized
interest and net income from investments in associated corporations);
|

|
• |
|
fixed charges, excluding interest on deposits, represent interest (including capitalized interest), and
amortization of debt issuance costs;
|

|
• |
|
fixed charges, including interest on deposits, represent all interest; and
|

|
• |
|
preferred dividends include dividends from preferred shares and other equity instruments.
|

|
• |
|
On November 1, 2023, the Bank adopted IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts, which replaces IFRS 4, the previous accounting
standard for insurance contracts. The Bank adopted IFRS 17 on a retrospective basis, restating the results from the transition date of November 1, 2022. Accordingly, results for fiscal 2023 have been restated to reflect the IFRS 17 basis of
accounting for insurance contracts. Results for periods prior to November 1, 2022 continue to be presented under the IFRS 4 basis of accounting and have not been restated.
